How to Get to Sagada from Manila

Sagada is a municipality in Mountain Province located in Northern Luzon, Philippines. Getting to Sagada takes about 12-13 hours by bus from Manila. There is no direct trip to Sagada from Manila but there are 3 routes that you can choose from depending on your preference.

By bus

Manila-Baguio-Sagada
This is the most popular route when going to Sagada and the most convenient way I think. If you want to drop by or stay in the City of Pines before and after your Sagada trip, then this is the route for you. There are a few bus lines from Manila plying to Baguio City. These bus lines have various terminals located in different areas of Metro Manila. From Baguio City, there are two lines that ply directly to Sagada. Buses leave by schedule.

Manila to Baguio City
Travel time: 6 hours
Bus: Victory Liner, Genesis Transport, Dagupan Bus Line
Fare: P400-P700 (depending on bus type)
Bus schedule: Victory Liner leaves every hour
Return Trip (Baguio to Manila): Victory Liner leaves every hour

Baguio City to Sagada
Travel time: 6 hours
Bus: GL Trans, Lizard Transit
Fare: P220 (non-aircon)
Bus schedule: First trip for GL Trans is 6:20 AM, Lizardo Bus Lines (6:30 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM)
Return Trip (Sagada to Baguio): First bus leaves at 5:00 PM and last bus leaves at 1:00 PM

Manila-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada
Some people take this route to see the popular rice terraces in Banaue, Ifugao. The journey, however, involves four transfers so it can be quite exhausting. Haven't tried this one yet but you can check out the info here.

Manila-Bontoc-Sagada
The trip starts with a bus ride from Manila to Bontoc, the capital of Mountain Province. Travel time is about 12 hours. A jeepney ride from Bontoc to Sagada takes another 45 minutes. Check out more info about this route here.

By plane

The nearest airport to Sagada is in Baguio. At present, there are no commercial flights to Baguio.

Travel Tips:

1. If you want to maximize your time, you can take a midnight trip from Manila just in time to catch the first trip of buses in Baguio bound for Sagada.
2. For Manila to Baguio bus trip, it's highly recommended to buy your ticket in advanced during peak season.
3. Come early to Dangwa Bus Terminal (at least 30 minutes especially on peak season) to make sure you get a seat for your desired schedule.
4. There are nearby restaurants in Dangwa Bus Terminal where you can buy some food or take a breakfast before the bus departs from Baguio.
5. There are two stops for restroom break and light snacks on the way to Sagada from Baguio. Prepare some coins (P5-10) for the use of the restroom.
6. If you're taking the earliest trip from Baguio to Sagada, get a seat on the left side of the bus to avoid the sun. The buses to Sagada don't have window curtains.

I have personally taken the Manila-Baguio-Sagada route and vice versa  but you can take a different route for your return trip. Check out this site for more information on how to get to Sagada from Manila. You may also visit this link for more helpful tips on traveling to Sagada by bus.
